Taste, craft, promise

Our Story

The story of Swadisht is short to tell. It is a name, a bread, three kitchens and a promise.

The name

It begins with one word.

Swadisht. In Gujarati and in Hindi, it is what people say when a meal is good. It is a plain, everyday word.

A name like that is a standard, and you are welcome to hold us to it. If a dish does not deserve the word, it has no place on our menu.

The parotha house

The bread in our name.

Our parothas come plain, layered, or stuffed with potato, mixed vegetables, cheese or paneer.

Some are roasted on the tawa until the layers crisp. Others bake in the tandoor beside the rotis and naans. For several of the stuffed ones, the choice is yours.

  • Glossy vegetable Manchurian balls with spring onion and peppers on a black plateChinese

Three kitchens

Everyone at the table gets their way.

Junagadh sits in Saurashtra, so our Gujarati cooking is Kathiyawadi: bold with garlic, bright with tomato, finished with crisp sev or gathiya.

Beside it you will find Punjabi curries of paneer and cashew with breads from the tandoor, and Indian Chinese noodles, rice and Manchurian. Three kitchens, one rule: everything is vegetarian.

The promise

Fresh for you, fair to all.

Every order is cooked fresh, so please allow 20 to 25 minutes. And so that no food is wasted, an order cannot be cancelled once it is placed.

Our staff are our family, and we ask every guest to treat them that way. Vaishnav, Jain and Swaminarayan preparations are available on request: please tell us when you order.

The promise, in short

  • Every order cooked fresh
  • No food wasted
  • Our staff, treated as family
  • Vaishnav, Jain and Swaminarayan preparations on request
Enough talk

The rest is on the plate.

A story about food only goes so far. Come in, sit down and let the kitchen finish it.
